Why?

Why is it that in shops like Saravana Stores, they continuously keep showing their own ads on TV screens kept everywhere in the shop? Haven’t we all come for shopping there only after seeing their ads(?) on TV? What’s the logic behind this? It only causes irritation to the shoppers to keep listening to the blaring sound of the ad!

    Not only that, Aparna. Whenever I go to West Mambalam, I see the above mentioned shop always teeming with people, no matter what the day of the week and hour of the day is. It is rather surprising. How come people crowd up there always?
    And yes, the blaring sound of the ad serves no purpose at all exept irritating people.

    if you lie loudly enough and often, it’s no longer a lie–or something to that effect.

    infinity divided by any integer is still infinity

    infinity divided by any integer is still infinity πŸ™‚ our population, explosion, and all that.

    @authoress,

    Aparna,
    please do something so that one can delete inadvertently submitted comments. and provide a mail id, or something viewable only by you, so that i don’t have to sound ridiculous in public.

    No, no Daneel, still, infinity must be evenly spread out. You see though infinite, the population is still a countably infinite quantity.(mathematicians use such phrases to confuse people).
    Aparna,
    Hope we have your permission!

    @sathej,
    i agree. but of course infinity is not to blame. the infinite love of indians for shoppping, and the sheer number of indians (chennaiites no exception) make up the crowd.

    and oh, aparna has given her implicit consent. maunam sammati lakshanam.

    @aparna,
    yes please do read. a discussion on why sarvana bhawan is always crowded is always more entertaining than the mere fact πŸ™‚

    @sathej,
    Umm, “knowing” is a bit stretching the fact. But I don’t mind πŸ˜€

    They probably do it, because their ads do not gain avlo TRP rates on popular channels….And do you really watch ads during breaks between shows ??? Don’t we change channels then ??? Not many of us sincerely sit and watch a single channel continuously for an hour or so….This is the prime reason as to why they keep airing their commercials over and over again in their stores….you are FORCED to watch ’em atleast there…
    Am not commenting on the crowd in such shops…Would take you aeons to read it πŸ˜›

    Sathej,
    These shops sell things at cheaper prices. That is one thing. The other reason might be everyone seem to have lotsa money to spend on shopping these days and the craze for shopping seems to be ever on the increase these days!

    Daneel,
    >if you lie loudly enough and often, it’s no longer a lie–or something to that effect.
    Good point!
    As Sathej says, I am talking about Saravana stores here.

    Btw, only I have the authority to delete the comments here πŸ˜‰

    Nithya,
    Well, don’t we go to shops to do shopping? Who would want to see the ads there when don’t watch it in TV itself? πŸ˜›
    It would take aeons for you too comment about the crowd there too. πŸ˜›

    oh dear. when i said delete comments, i meant delete my comments that i might not want to be seen. or i might want to delete the comment and put in a new one. so i was saying, the author of a comment should also have some way to delete the comment.
    the other point i made was that a reader should have some stuff to tell you, which wouldn’t be of interest to other readers. so you should have an email id displayed here (usually bloggers use a separate id for this purpose).

    of course, your blog, your rules, and you rule.
    cheers!

    see the above comment. “a reader should have some…”. i don’t want that incorrect sentence to be attributed to me. however, i have no way of deleting it.

    First of all I can’t understand the psycology behind these SMSs. Why i should express my love towards someone through sun music. is it meaningful? And moreover i heard these SMSs are costlier than the ordinary ones (i’m not sure about the info.)..Simply irritating.!
