    Hi Aparna,

I am a 25 yr old guy from Chennai. Like you I love Chennai as well, but I’ve had brief academic and work stints in London, Cologne, Bonn, Nice, Sardinia and Portofino. Went through your blog and I’d like to link your blog in mine so I can visit you regularly and so can the people who visit my blogs. Would you like to do the same?

    Hi Aparna,

Don’t know how often you check here but I happened to come across your blog and read the Concerts series. This is quite an ‘aside’ but could you perhaps give me directions to Sivagami Petachi Auditorium? I’m itching to go see a play but I’m new to the place and need a bit of help. Mail me if you can – Will appreciate it!

    Peace,
    Deepa.

    Sudhir Eswran,
Thanks….I don’t know any link from where you can get Naan Paadum. Try Uyirvani.com or Mohan Kumars. You can get the Banyan theme from Youtube.

saw a mention about carnatic chills in ur bog.how is it?is it available online?

and have you listened to a track called ‘Dance of Shiva’.i guess its by Ganesh/kumaresh.will try to post a streaming link to it.

ps:nice list of songs on ur blog, especially azhage sugama(rahman s best n sadly the least noticed)

    Prasanna,
Ganesh & Kumaresh played some tracks from Carnatic Chills during its release function and those were awesome! Those were in raaga Nattai, Pantuvarali, Mohanasri, Karaharapriya (That’s all I listened to).
I have no clue as to whether it is available online or not.

    //azhage sugama(rahman s best n sadly the least noticed)//
Well there are some more excellent compositions of Rahman too that have gone unnoticed

    Harish,
More on Sahana? Well, I hope you listened to all the songs that I had mentioned in the post. One more classical song that I can think of right now in Sahana is Dikshitar’s Kamalamba Navavarnam.
Other good ragas? All the raagas are good. πŸ™‚ Maybe you can check out songs in raaga Karaharapriya (not a rare raaga though). Some songs are Chakkani Raja, Nadachi, Pakkala.
Then, maybe raaga Kedaragowlai. The song Venugana in this raaga sung by T.M.Krishna is available in Musicindiaonline. One more song in this raaga is Saragunapalimpa.
I will try to post some of my fav raagas and songs in it soon. This comment has already become veryyy lengthy.

    Hi, Aparna,

    This is saeid from Iran.
Few years ago, I traveled to your country and had lots of unforgettable memories there with your nice people.

Today I was searching the web, looking for my friend’s blog. But I found your blog.
You have a nice blog and a lot about Indian music and movies. And I remembered the days I passed in India.

Here I have a request, would you please kindly write for me the lyric of β€œTanha Dil” or any other Indian song, with Urdu words. I remember when I was in India there was an Indian singer, his name was (I think it was) pankaj udast . His songs were very interesting, is he still singing.

Any way it would be your kindness to write for me the song, or any other song.

    Thank you

    Saeid from Tehran/Iran

    Welcome to my blog!
    Thank you!

I will surely post the lyrics of Tanha Dil in maybe another couple of days.
The singer you are referring to is Pankaj Udhas. I think it has been quite sometime since he released a new album.
