I recently transferred some of my favourite songs that I haven’t listened to for quite sometime, to my mobile. So, I have almost stopped listening to radio now. The next three paras of this post is what I typed in my mobile as a message when I was travelling home from work after I pressed the play button in the music player with the random option turned on. 🙂
As the bus travels down the East Coast Road at God-knows-what speed, I am enjoying my journey listening to Rahman’s songs. 🙂 Pachchai KiLigaL – I am listening to it after a long time. I love everything about it – the humming in the beginning, lovely lines like ‘naan innoru piravi unnai petraal innum aanandam’, the interlude/music at around 2 minutes.
Munching a Dairy Milk Eclairs, listening to Jiya Jale ( wonderful beats and flute interludes 🙂 ), cool breeze caressing my face (surprisingly the person sitting next to me has allowed me to keep the window fully open!), pachai kiLigaL ending and MalargaLe playing next and the beats in the song starting just as I finish typing the previous line, I am loving every minute of the bus ride! 🙂 I got into the bus feeling a bit tired but now I feel as though my energy level has shot up ten times! 🙂
As though in sync with my mood, the next song is Akkadanu naanga! Wow! The next one – Andha Arabic! Is there anything better than Rahman himself lending his voice to his own music? 😉 Dil Se Re! Oh my God! It feels as though Rahman himself wanted to cheer me up and stop feeling tired! 😀 It hasn’t stopped yet. Doubling up my happiness is the song Sevvanam now! 🙂
Just as my stop was nearing, Thee Thee started and I had to stop the song midway and get down from the bus. 😦 But, how can I even imagine sleeping without listening to Thee Thee after listening to it halfway? 😉 After listening to Thee Thee, Aayo Re Sakhi and Vasishnava Janato, I am now listening to veLLai pookaL. 🙂 Who’s in a mood to sleep now when all one wants to do is listen to Rahman’s songs again and again and again 🙂

Wish you to travel a evening bus ride in bangalore roads ;).. Anyway “Antha arabi..,kathal sadugudu..,mellisaiye(Mr.Romeo)…” are really evergreens and brings a cheer , wherever and whenever you listen to them…

I go through your feelings when you here the music, yaa lot of things I also enjoyed, when I got sad mood suddenly I go to a lonely place and here the Music mostly A.R.Rahman, actually I am not interested in music in my beginning days, my native is a smart village, one day I travel in a bus, they play the songs from Roja, when I heart I feel something magic in the music it attract me too, that journey is turns me to listen music. Currently,my fav travel song is “New York Nagaram” .Also,”theekuruvi”[i dont really know exactly wat the lyrics are) from “Kangalaal Kaidhu Sei”.i totally enjoyed listening to these two when we went on a trip to austria.The mountains ,the sky,the river flowing parallel to the train..it was freakin’ awesome 🙂

I have not heard most of the songs listed here. So I went and to it all to see what the deal is … now my MP3 player has about a gig and a half MP3’s of ARR stuff. Will need to listen to it slowly ..
One movie a day I thought. So Sangamam it is. I liked all of ONE song in the movie. Varaha nadhikara oram …melodious!!

ahaaaaa… starting from three songs of your post the list has grown huge and all the masterpieces of Rahman are getting listed..heres one more (there seems to be a lot of one mores – songs, smiley’s 🙂 .. his Thai Manne Vanakkam is my ALL TIME favorite..while most of ARR’s songs are master piece this one is above and more than that… his songs just fill you soul… but thai manne vanakkam can fill the body, soul and mind.. it even gets you so much of physical energy.. thats the power of the song.. as srikrishna said Rahman is god of music and I also liked how Rahmantism(though i would prefer rahmanism) is a religion.. it truly is a religion by the sheer number of comments for this single post.. when he can be god why not a religion? thanks for your post getting to realise so much more of The God of Music…..

Some songs do have that effect on you! Has been a long time since I listened to Thai Manne Vanakkam (I prefer the Tamil one to Hindi).
I prefer Rahmania to Rahmantism or Rahmanism after all, aren’t there so many Rahmaniacs? 😉

I had only listened his Hindi/Urdu songs, but after I watched his CD of shows, I sometimes tune in to a Tamil radio in Toronto and most of the times it plays A R Rahman. I dont know the language, yet the music is so wonderful. English, Hindi, Tamil, folk, modern and now this new one from Jane tu ya jane na which is jazz.Wow! he is a gold mine of new ideas. He once said in his interview that “i get bored easily and if I cant listen to something I dont want my audience to listen to it either” hence he is climbing mountain after mountain of new genres.
